God is on the throne, however American Christians worried about which one…

Church Life

“God is on the Throne!” is said by Christians as a declaration that no matter what is going on in the world, God is still in control.

However, given the way the 2020 US presidential election is turning out (and indeed the whole of 2020 which is currently the longest year on record), American Christians are worried that their exegesis of this statement had been sadly lacking.

“When Elijah faced the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel, we read in 1 Kings 18:27 that Elijah mocked them saying that maybe their god had ‘stepped aside’ for a moment which we know is a euphemism for relieving oneself,” said a scholar whose name we couldn’t spell.

“Given that God’s anointed leader, Trump/Biden* (* delete as appropriate), hasn’t been declared yet then clearly God is not answering the many fervent prayers from Republican/Democrat* (* delete as appropriate) Christians who know that he this is God’s clear will for the nation.”

“This leads us to an uncomfortable thought…but it also explains why prayer and Bible study whilst on the toilet seems to be such a blessed time.”
