Jon Crist cancels remaining tour due to poor joke allegations

Church Life

Popular Christian comedian Jon Crist has cancelled his latest tour due to reports that he engaged in multiple instances of telling poor jokes.

Taylor Berglund of Charisma News reported Wednesday afternoon that Crist “exploited his Christian reputation and platform to harass people with bad jokes and manipulate them into thinking that he was better than secular performers.”

A spokesmen added, “Crist was able to get away with these poor jokes due to the lower standards the church holds when it comes to ‘Christian’ performances. Heck! You only have to look at PureFlix movies to know how true this is.”

These allegations, according to Berglund, included giving away tickets to his shows in return for positive reviews on social media.

In an email sent to Charisma News earlier this week published in the story, Crist wrote:
“I am sorry for the hurt and pain I have caused these audiences and will continue to seek their forgiveness.”

Jon Crist has decided to cancel his remaining tour dates for 2019 to focus on learning how to be funny and have mentors who actually check his heart.

Last month, Crist announced that he was going to have a Bible special on Netflix, titled “I Ain’t Obeyin’ That,” which was scheduled to debut on Thanksgiving.

However, since the allegations have surfaced, Netflix issued the statement: “For Sure No.”

Editor’s serious note: Charisma News reported on Jon B Crist’s inappropriate sexual behaviour against a number of women. As Christians we are called to pray for him to repent, to seek help and to be held accountable for his actions.

We cannot judge him as we are all sinners saved only by grace.

We also need to pray that God would grant the victims peace, that they would receive the counselling they need to heal and the support and protection they need after coming forward to testify.

If you have been affected in any way by his behaviour then we encourage you to tell your pastor and make a statement to the police. If you want to talk to someone who has been through this before then we recommend Jennifer Michelle Greenberg, author of “Not Forsaken”.
