Matt Redman’s 10,000 reasons step challenge

Church Life

Concern over the growing obesity crisis facing church congregations has led leading worship leader Matt Redman to change the lyrics to his popular song “10,000 reasons” to promote increasing fitness:

The sun comes up, it’s a new day dawning
It’s time to get out walking again
Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me
Let me be walking when the evening comes

Bless my legs Oh my soul,
Oh my soul
Walking my way to health
Blisters like never before
Oh my legs
I’ll walk until I collapse

I’ve eaten rich food
And now I’m slow to move
My health is poor
And my heart is struggling
For all my fitness
I will keep on walking
10, 000 steps for my legs to find

And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my legs will keep on waking
10, 000 steps and then forever more
