St Paul’s gardening accident leads to thorn in the flesh

Church Life

Paul was trimming the roses when he experienced a thorn in the flesh or in his index finger to be more precise.

It could have happened to anyone and most people would swiftly pull it out.

However, Paul realised that this was because he had become conceited over his superior gardening skills and the thorn was actually a messenger of Satan sent to torment him.

And he cried out three times unto the Lord for Him to take it away.

But God did reply, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

So Paul realised that he would have to man up and use the tweezers to remove his thorn in his flesh rather than expect God to do it for him without that endless digging around to find it that always hurts just so much.

Next week, we’ll report on how Paul cried out for God to remove sand from his eye.
