World Book Day: Jeff Bezos dresses up as Guy Montag from Fahrenheit 451
Jeff Bezos, Amazon CEO, celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as a character from one of his favourite books: Guy Montag from Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451.
In the story, Guy Montag is one of the State’s firemen whose job it is to burn books which are forbidden. After all people, could learn ideas outside of the media and that just leads to discord and unhappiness.
But rather than just dressing up Jeff decided to go one step further and ban Tommy Robinson’s book Mohammed’s Koran, which criticises jihad terror and Sharia Law’s oppression of women and gays amongst others.Â
Jeff also burnt all the printed copies he could find.
Tommy Robsinson has already been banned from Facebook and YouTube after his recent documentary exposed the corruption of the BBC (the video of which continues to be banned from being shared on Facebook).Â
And Barnes and Noble had already taken the progressive step of banning his book and so for once, Jeff Bezos was no longer at the forefront of using his influence to promote a more liberal vision of the world.
A spokesperson said, “Jeff’s recent divorce has meant that he hasn’t been able to focus 100% on being woke. However, he is grateful for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) to tell him what products should be banned from Amazon to ensure no-one is offended by truth. We think Ray Bradbury would be proud of how we are keeping with his beautiful vision he imagined in Fahrenheit 451 where there is only harmony and hapiness.“
